Read these before booking your first ride
TricyRide runs on mutual trust. Riders depend on students showing up on time. Students depend on riders arriving promptly. Violations trigger automatic strikes and suspensions that cannot be immediately reversed.
Only request a ride when you are physically ready to leave or within 2 minutes of your pickup location. Booking while still in your room wastes riders' time.
When you receive the flashing "YOUR RIDER IS HERE" alert, you have exactly 10 minutes to board. After 10 minutes a strike is automatically issued and the rider is released.
Before boarding, the rider will say a 4-digit code. Match it with the code on your dashboard. Never board a tricycle without verifying the code — this protects both you and the rider.
Tap "Mark Complete" on your dashboard when you reach your destination. This closes the trip properly so the rider can move on and the system stays accurate.
TricyRide does not process ride payments. You pay the rider directly in cash. Do not underpay or attempt to leave without paying — this affects riders' livelihoods.
You may cancel while your ride is in "pending" status. Once a rider has accepted and is en route, cancellation will be treated as a no-show and may result in a strike.
Each student is allowed one TricyRide account. Creating multiple accounts to bypass strikes or suspensions will result in permanent bans on all linked accounts.
Group Ride requires every member to have their own active subscription. You cannot add a friend on your subscription — each person must pay their own ₦300/month.
Once you reply "1" to accept a booking, you have 15 minutes to reach the pickup point. Do not accept a booking if you cannot arrive on time.
Reply "2" to the booking SMS the moment you arrive at the pickup location. Sending "2" before arriving starts the student's 10-minute boarding timer prematurely.
Ask each student for their 4-digit code before allowing them to board. Only passengers linked to your booking should be in your tricycle.
Do not overcharge passengers. Riders who are repeatedly reported for overcharging will be investigated and may be removed from the platform.
Do not accept a new booking while passengers are on board or while a current trip is still active. Close the current trip first.
Strikes are issued automatically by the system when timing rules are violated. They can also be issued manually by an admin after investigating a reported incident. Your current strike count is always visible on your dashboard.
| Count | Status | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Strike 1 | Warning | Orange warning banner on your dashboard. No booking restriction yet. |
| Strike 2 | Final Warning | Yellow banner: "One more strike will suspend your account for 7 days!" |
| Strike 3 | Suspended | Account suspended for 7 days. Cannot book or receive rides. Exact reactivation date shown on dashboard. |
Verbal abuse, harassment, or threats toward riders or students will result in immediate permanent suspension without appeal.
Only use the "Report no-show" option if a rider genuinely did not arrive. False reports are investigated and may result in a strike against the person who filed them.
