Rules & Guidelines

Read these before booking your first ride

⚠️

This matters — please read

TricyRide runs on mutual trust. Riders depend on students showing up on time. Students depend on riders arriving promptly. Violations trigger automatic strikes and suspensions that cannot be immediately reversed.

🎓 Student Rules
1

Be at your pickup point when you book

Only request a ride when you are physically ready to leave or within 2 minutes of your pickup location. Booking while still in your room wastes riders' time.

2

Board within 10 minutes of rider arrival

When you receive the flashing "YOUR RIDER IS HERE" alert, you have exactly 10 minutes to board. After 10 minutes a strike is automatically issued and the rider is released.

3

Always confirm the 4-digit trip code

Before boarding, the rider will say a 4-digit code. Match it with the code on your dashboard. Never board a tricycle without verifying the code — this protects both you and the rider.

4

Mark ride complete after arriving

Tap "Mark Complete" on your dashboard when you reach your destination. This closes the trip properly so the rider can move on and the system stays accurate.

5

Pay the rider the correct fare in cash

TricyRide does not process ride payments. You pay the rider directly in cash. Do not underpay or attempt to leave without paying — this affects riders' livelihoods.

6

Do not cancel after a rider is dispatched

You may cancel while your ride is in "pending" status. Once a rider has accepted and is en route, cancellation will be treated as a no-show and may result in a strike.

7

One account per person

Each student is allowed one TricyRide account. Creating multiple accounts to bypass strikes or suspensions will result in permanent bans on all linked accounts.

8

All friends in a Group Ride must be subscribed

Group Ride requires every member to have their own active subscription. You cannot add a friend on your subscription — each person must pay their own ₦300/month.

🛺 Rider Rules
1

Arrive within 15 minutes of accepting

Once you reply "1" to accept a booking, you have 15 minutes to reach the pickup point. Do not accept a booking if you cannot arrive on time.

2

Send "2" only when you have actually arrived

Reply "2" to the booking SMS the moment you arrive at the pickup location. Sending "2" before arriving starts the student's 10-minute boarding timer prematurely.

3

Verify the trip code before boarding

Ask each student for their 4-digit code before allowing them to board. Only passengers linked to your booking should be in your tricycle.

4

Charge fair campus rates

Do not overcharge passengers. Riders who are repeatedly reported for overcharging will be investigated and may be removed from the platform.

5

Complete one trip before accepting another

Do not accept a new booking while passengers are on board or while a current trip is still active. Close the current trip first.

Strike System

Strikes are issued automatically by the system when timing rules are violated. They can also be issued manually by an admin after investigating a reported incident. Your current strike count is always visible on your dashboard.

CountStatusWhat happens
Strike 1WarningOrange warning banner on your dashboard. No booking restriction yet.
Strike 2Final WarningYellow banner: "One more strike will suspend your account for 7 days!"
Strike 3SuspendedAccount suspended for 7 days. Cannot book or receive rides. Exact reactivation date shown on dashboard.
Appeals: If you believe a strike was issued incorrectly, contact us via the Contact page immediately with the date, time, and brief explanation. An admin will review and can reverse a strike if warranted.
🤝 General Conduct
1

Treat everyone with respect

Verbal abuse, harassment, or threats toward riders or students will result in immediate permanent suspension without appeal.

2

Report incidents honestly

Only use the "Report no-show" option if a rider genuinely did not arrive. False reports are investigated and may result in a strike against the person who filed them.

3

Keep your login private

Your account is personal. Do not share your phone or login access with anyone. You are fully responsible for all activity that takes place on your account.
