Everything you need to know about TricyRide

πŸš€ Getting Started
How do I create an account? +
Go to the Register page, enter your full name and a valid Nigerian phone number. You'll be logged in immediately β€” no email or OTP required. The whole thing takes under 60 seconds.
How much does a subscription cost? +
A student subscription costs ₦400 per month (30 days). This covers unlimited ride requests. You pay the rider their fare directly in cash when you board β€” TricyRide only collects the subscription fee.
How do I pay for my subscription? +
Two options: Paystack (card, bank transfer, USSD β€” activates instantly) or direct bank transfer (upload your receipt, admin activates within a few hours during working hours).
Do I need to download an app? +
No. TricyRide works entirely in your browser β€” Chrome, Safari, any browser on any phone. No download, no storage used. You can tap "Add to Home Screen" to create a shortcut that feels like an app.
πŸ›Ί Booking Rides
What is a Shared Ride? +
Shared Ride groups you with 1–3 other students heading to the same destination. You wait a short time while the system builds a group. It's the most affordable option and is covered entirely by your monthly subscription.
What is a Full Seat booking? +
Full Seat means you book the entire tricycle for yourself. A rider is dispatched to you immediately β€” no waiting, no other passengers. You pay the rider the full fair (equivalent to all 4 seats) in cash directly.
What is a Group Ride? +
Group Ride lets you and up to 3 friends book one tricycle together. You enter each friend's registered phone number β€” the system checks they all have active subscriptions before confirming. Every friend gets an SMS when a rider accepts.
How long does matching take? +
During peak hours (7–9am and 1–4pm), Shared Rides are typically matched within 3–5 minutes. Full Seat and Group Rides send a rider notification immediately β€” no waiting for other passengers to fill up.
How will I know when a rider is on the way? +
You receive an SMS with the rider's full name, tricycle colour, plate number and a 4-digit trip code. Your dashboard also updates in real time. When the rider arrives and marks "arrived," you get a loud flashing yellow alert on your screen.
What is the trip code for? +
The trip code is a 4-digit number shown on your dashboard and also sent to the rider. When the rider arrives, they will ask for your code to confirm you are their assigned passenger. This stops other students from accidentally boarding your tricycle.
Can I cancel a ride request? +
Yes β€” while your ride is still in "pending" status (before a rider accepts), you can cancel from your dashboard at no penalty. Once a rider has accepted and is en route, please do not cancel as this may result in a strike.
πŸ’³ Payments & Subscription
Do I pay for each individual ride? +
No money passes through TricyRide for individual rides. Your ₦400/month subscription covers all bookings. You pay the rider their normal tricycle fare in cash when you board. TricyRide only processes your subscription payment.
I paid via Paystack but my account isn't active. +
Paystack activates your subscription automatically within seconds. If your account shows inactive after 5 minutes, contact us via the Contact page with your payment reference number and we'll resolve it immediately.
I transferred to the bank but nothing happened. +
Bank transfer activations are done manually. Allow up to a few hours during working hours. If it has been more than 24 hours, contact us with your transfer receipt and we'll activate it right away.
Can I get a refund? +
Subscriptions are non-refundable once activated. If there was a duplicate charge or payment error, contact us within 48 hours with your transaction details and we'll review your case.
⚑ Strikes & Suspensions
What is a strike? +
A strike is a penalty issued when platform rules are violated β€” for example, not boarding within 10 minutes of your rider arriving, or cancelling after a rider is dispatched. You get 3 strikes before your account is automatically suspended for 7 days.
How do I avoid getting a strike? +
Come to your pickup point promptly when you receive the arrival alert. You have 10 minutes to board after the rider marks "arrived." Only book a ride when you are physically ready to leave.
My account was suspended but it wasn't my fault. +
Contact us immediately via the Contact page. Explain what happened and an admin will review your case. If the strike was incorrectly issued, it will be reversed and your account reinstated.
